INVISIBLE
INVISIBLE represented a significant moment for the Science Gallery Global Network. The exhibition was based on the exhibition DARK MATTER, which originated at Science Gallery at King’s College London.
My mission as Exhibitions Producer was to reimagine the DARK MATTER exhibition for its installation at Science Gallery Dublin.
INVISIBLE brought together scientific research, artistic expression, storytelling and philosophy to communicate and explore the limits of human knowledge and our fascination with the unknown.
The exhibition was forced to close on the same day it was supposed to launch - due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This forced the pivoting of programming to a virtual environment.
As well as producing the physical exhibition, I oversaw the the production of artist talks, workshops and a virtual tour experience.
I oversaw the creative production and delivery of this exhibition.

I worked with 12 artists and oversaw the commissioning of two artworks.
Tomás Saraceno - Gravitational Solitary Solitary Choreography Beta Scorpi
Tavares Strachan - The Encyclopedia of Invisibility
Agnieszka Kurant - The Maps of Phantom Islands / The Half-Life of Facts
Thijs Biersteker - Dark Distortions (Commissioned)
Yu-Chen Wang - There’s more to it than meets the eye
Semiconductor - Through the AEgIS
Andy Holden - Even Darker Matter / The Laws of Cartoon Motion
Gianni Motti - HIGGS, In Search of Anti-Motti
Stephen Clayton - Infra-Idol Assembly (Thinking the Unthinkable)
Aura Satz - Tuning Interference: Dark Matter Radio
Enrico Sacchetti - Dark Side series
Laura Callaghan - Whoever Shines Must Be Observed (Commissioned)
Dark Distortions
Artist: Thijs Biersteker in collaboration with cosmologist, Henk Hoekstra.
Dark Distortions was commissioned as part of the lead-up to the new ESA mission Euclid, to be launched in 2022. The satellite will map the geometry of the universe to help us better understand dark matter and dark energy.
I managed the commissioning of this piece and worked closely with the artist to design and create the room the artwork would be presented in.
Here is an interview I did with Symmetry Magazine about the creation of the artwork.
Whoever Shines Must Be Observed
Artist: Laura O’Callaghan
Irish illustrator Laura Callaghan was commissioned to create a portrait of three Irish women who made significant contributions to astrophysics and astronomy: Annie Russell Maunder , Mary Bruck and Mary Ward.
This work manifested as a 12 metre long mural in the café of Science Gallery Dublin.
In partnership with Science Gallery Dublin’s Lead Designer, I produced the exhibition design.
Using SketchUp, I designed the lay-out and visitor journey of the exhibition.

I managed the exhibition build tender process.
Working with AB projects, I oversaw the exhibition build development and execution, and it’s on-site installation.

I commissioned an INVISIBLE virtual experience during the forced closure of the gallery .
Working with domavue, I oversaw the production of the virtual experience, bringing the exhibition beyond the gallery walls during the Covid-19 pandemic.
